Modify VSS provider for Hyper-v volume in Veeam backup and Replication

I had a conflict with the HP VSS provider on my hyper-v hosts. It resulted with a backup warning with the following error message :

Unable to create snapshot (HP P2000/MSA2000 VSS Provider) (mode: Veeamapplication-aware processing). Details: Failed to check whether provider ‘{bd04cbf9-212c-4553-9ea5-c5bfb05ccc8f}’ supports shadow copies on the volume ‘\\?\Volume{cc4c78dd-792e-11df-a3f3-002655d7de34}\’. Vss error: ‘0x80042306’ –tr:Failed to add volumes to the snapshot set. –tr:Failed to perform pre-backup tasks.
Task has been rescheduled (Failed to check whether provider ‘{bd04cbf9-212c-4553-9ea5-c5bfb05ccc8f}’ supports shadow copies on the volume ‘\\?\Volume{cc4c78dd-792e-11df-a3f3-002655d7de34}\’. Vss error: ‘0x80042306’ –tr:Failed to add volumes to the snapshot set. –tr:Failed to perform pre-backup tasks.)

During backup, veeam tried to uses HP Vss provider and failed over the microsoft one. To correct :

Modify the vss for each host and for each volume :

Right click on your host and select « Manage Volumes »

vss veeam

Select the Microsoft VSS

vss selection

Run your job and no more warning message appear 😉

Some Alcatel Omniswitch useful commands

Here is some useful command on Alcatel Omniswitch (OS6400, OS6850…)

ERROR: Write memory is not permitted when switch is running in certified mode

copy certified working
write memory
copy working certified
write memory flash-shyncro

IP MGMT

1 Create VLAN 1 with a description (e.g., VLAN 1) by using the vlan command. For example:
-> vlan 1 name “VLAN 1”
2 Create VLAN 2 with a description (e.g., VLAN 2) by using the vlan command. For example:
-> vlan 2 name “VLAN 2”
3 Assign an active port to VLAN 1 by using the vlan port default command. For example, the follow-
ing command assigns port 1 on slot 1 to VLAN 1:
-> vlan 1 port default 1/1
4 Assign an active port to VLAN 2 by using the vlan port default command. For example, the follow-
ing command assigns port 2 on slot 1 to VLAN 2:
-> vlan 2 port default 1/2
5 Create an IP router interface on VLAN 1 using the ip interface command. For example:
-> ip interface vlan-1 address 171.10.1.1 vlan 1
6 Create an IP router interface on VLAN 2 using the ip interface command. For example:
-> ip interface vlan-2 address 171.11.1.1 vlan 2

Remove port access:

vlan 10 no port default 3/24

Assign static IP and bind IF1 with VLAN 1

> ip interface IF1 address x.x.x.x/24 vlan 1
> write memory
> copy working certified

Enable auth web

> aaa authentication default local

SNMP configuration

Create user in Security/ASA
Create SNMP community mapped with user created before
In SNMP Configuration set No encryption to user SNMP v2c

STACK SFP+

> stack set slot 1 saved-mode OS6850E
> interfaces 1/25 mode stacking
> reload working no rollback-timeout

Per-VLAN DHCP Relay

ip helper address 125.255.17.11 vlan 3

LACP

To both side
linkagg "agg number" size "links number"

-> static linkagg 2 size 2
-> static agg 2/5 agg num 2
-> static agg 1/5 agg num 2

trunk agregation:
vlan 25 802.1q 2 "AGG TRUNK"

VLAN MOBILITY (VOICE / DATA)

Source : http://www.alcatelunleashed.com/viewtopic.php?f=191&t=16197

Autocom access VLAN VOIP (ici 10)
vlan 10 port default 2/24

> vlan 80 name "DATA"
> vlan 10 name "VOICE"
> vlan 80 port default 1/16
> vlan port mobile 1/16
> vlan 10 mac range 00:80:9f:00:00:00 00:80:9f:ff:ff:ff

LLDP-MED
-> vlan port mobile 2/10
-> vlan 10 mac mac-address-of-the-lldp-device
-> lldp 2/10 tlv med network-policy enable
-> lldp network-policy 1 application voice vlan 10 l2-priority 5
-> lldp 2/10 med network-policy 1

BEST SOLUTION:
vlan 10 name office
vlan 10 port default 1/5
vlan 20 name voice
vlan 20 mobile-tag enable

vlan port mobile port 1/5

lldp network-policy 1 application voice vlan 20
lldp chassis tlv med network-policy enable
lldp chassis med network policy 1

You get a lot of benefits this way: QoS markings automatically work because the port is trusted (because it will be tagged), not manually having to create 802.1q interfaces, etc.

If your phones don't support LLDP, then you can configure them to manually use VLAN id for voice traffic. Polycom phones support manual configuration through phone menu, and through DHCP options.
